Vintage Potato Ricer Restoration

In this, restoration, I am restoring a vintage potato ricer that I bought at an auction for ZAR95 ($6 USD). I do not know much about potato ricers so I researched them a bit and in a nutshell, it boils down to mash texture. It is said that if you mash potatoes using a standard masher, it tends to yield a more “gluey” texture as opposed to the nice and fluffy texture most want. So apparently, using a potato ricer is the way to go if you prefer your mash to be nice and fluffy!
